May Events in Boise

May is a wonderful time of year in the Treasure Valley, with the smell of new growth in the air it is hard not to get excited to go out and enjoy yourself! Well, with the very wet month of April now behind us, we can start looking forward to some of the great activities the Treasure Valley has to offer. There are so many things going on that it is going to be hard to decide which to attend! Here we have listed 5 events that we think will peak your interests so be sure to check them out!

Comedian Brian Regan

May 3rd, 8:00 PM, Morrison Center

If you like to laugh then you definitely need to make plans to visit the Morrison Center on May 3rd to see Brian Regan. Regan is a hilarious comedian that has captured the hearts of millions over his last decade or so of comedy experience. He is well known as a “clean” comedian so all his material is appropriate for everyone.

Regan blends his brand of self-deprecating humor with his many anecdotes of being a parent to produce signature jokes that will have you laughing for years. Tickets are around $50 a piece and are going fast, so you better get them before they’re gone!

First Thursday

May 4th:  5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Downtown Boise

First Thursday is a program that puts together events on the first Thursday of every month. This month, the first Thursday lands on May 4th. The First Thursday is an event where dozens of shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues offer discounts and special offers during the evening hours of 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The list of specials and events changes monthly, so you can check their website for more detailed information. However, in months past, they have had glassblowing demonstrations, discounts at some awesome eateries, and even some wine tasting tents.

Idaho Job and Career Fair

May 10th, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Nampa Civic Center

If you are looking for a new or different job, then you should head to the Idaho Job and Career Fair at the Nampa Civic Center. It is sponsored by IBL Events, KBOI, and a handful of other local companies and this marks their 2nd fair out of the 4 they have planned for 2017.

It is a great way to visit with a lot of employers in a short amount of time—employers who are actively searching for people to hire. Some of the employers that will be in attendance include, but are not limited to, Boise Cascade (the wood manufacturing company), Bronco Motors, Farmers Insurance, and the United States Postal Service.

National Public Gardens Day

May 12th, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Idaho Botanical Gardens

“April showers bring May flowers” is the saying; and with all the rain we received in April, the flowers should be pretty spectacular. The best way to enjoy flowers though would have to be at the Idaho Botanical Gardens’ National Public Gardens Day celebration. This celebration is a free event for the public. Everyone can come in and see the beautiful flowers and other plants grown at this local garden. You can even take in some of the educational opportunities provided by the Idaho Botanical Gardens and even buy some plants if want to.
