May Events Around Boise

May is an exciting month filled with more consistent weather and the delights of spring in full bloom.   It’s a time to plant our gardens, visit the farmers market, learn how to infuse honey, see a play and much, much more.  The following are a few fun, informative and healthy activities to take part in this May.

Hula the Heartbeat of Hawai’i

Every Wednesday, May 2th – 30th (May 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th)

Aloha!  Want a glimpse into the Hawaiian culture and learn how to hula?  This class is for all adventurous learners from ages 13 and up. It is a 5 week course where you will not only learn the basic steps of the dance but also the history, background and meaning of the steps.  Plus, it’s a great workout.

Boise Farmers Market

Saturday, May 5th  9:00 – 1:00 (This event will be held every week on Saturday until 10/27/2018), 208-345-9287.  Republic parking lot, 10th and Grove streets; Boise, Idaho

Do you value homegrown produce and supporting your local economy?  Then come to the 5th annual Boise Farmers Market where you will find fresh local vegetables and fruit, breads, pastries, honey, jams and sauces.  Even fresh-roasted coffee. There will also be a wide selection of ready-to-eat foods. On opening day they will be celebrating their 5th anniversary.   They have festivities planned throughout the day, beginning with the cutting of the cake at 10 am. There will be activities for younger kids and hourly giveaways.

Herbal Honey Infusions

Ages 13 and up. Registration ends Sunday, May 6th. Fee: $30

Have you ever wanted to create your own herbal infused honeys?  Join other like minded explorers in learning some herbalism basics and in creating your very own infused herbal honeys.  You will have your choice of cinnamon, lavender, rosemary, ginger, and garlic-thyme. You will learn how to prepare several easy recipes for honey incorporating and will have the chance to try each of the infused herbal flavors. You will take home recipes and jars of your honey creations. Beverages will be available for purchase.

Blood, Sweat and Cheers Charity Golf Tournament

The Idaho Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation is sponsoring their 23rd annual Blood, Sweat & Cheers Charity Golf tournament. Proceeds go toward inherited bleeding disorders.  Through education, advocacy and research this organization strives to find better treatments and cures and to prevent the complications that stem from these disorders. Join them Friday, May 18th at Eagle Hills Golf Course from 8:00-5:00.
