March 2019 Events and Activities
March is a wonderful time here in the Treasure Valley. The weather starts to warm up a little, the sun starts to shine, and there are more and more activities for us to enjoy. If you thought that February was great, then you are going to love March. This month there are all sorts of events, so there is no reason to stay cooped up inside. Here are just a few of the activities that you might be interested in!
9:15 AM to 10:00 AM, JUMP Move Studio
This event is for young children, but that doesn’t mean that their parents or guardians can’t join in the fun! It is a great way to socialize, have fun and, of course, DANCE! On their website, they explain that it is a great way to introduce little ones to the dancing game and help you bond with them in the process!
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, 2355 N Old Penitentiary Road
The Idaho Botanical Garden is a local institution that had dedicated themselves to preserving plants and passing on the art of caring for them. At this event, you will be taught the basics of how to choose and nurture seeds for your collection. Their website contains more information about the event along with information on registration. Be sure to check it out!
6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Dry Creek Mercantile
This event is for those over the age of 21 as there will be alcohol served. It is a great way to socialize and learn a little about weaving. It only costs $25 to $40 for the class to cover the materials but does not cover the cost of food and wine.
While you are there, you will learn a new skill and create your own work of art using yarn and the supplies nature provides. It is sure to be an interesting and eye-opening experience.
7:00 PM, Rediscovered Books
This free event is a great way to take a trip to America in the 20th century. Dear Folks is the book written by Steven Davis that explores what life was like for a WWI American soldier. Letters home will be read along with period music, photos, and poems. It is sure to be a fascinating event that will entertain and astound– not to mention, increase your sense of gratitude for those who have served our country.
Tuesdays through Fridays until March 24th, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Ming Studio
This amazing exhibition is a great way to view and appreciate the photographic arts that are captured by the people in our community. Like many other exhibitions, this one has a theme: “Lay of the Land” where entries are designed to present and explore the concept of place. It is a wonderful exhibition and will only go until the 24th of March, so be sure to head down to the Ming Studio before it’s all over.
This event is free!
Through March 25th, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM: Boise
You may have seen games like this before on the internet or on TV as they are one of the hottest new crazes when it comes to app games. The Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure is, well, amazing! This game will turn your city into the game board as you travel around the city collecting clues, doing challenges, and having a great time along the way. If you check out the Boise Weekly website they have a promo code you can use as well which will probably save you a little money at sign up.
March 20th through March 24th: Downtown Boise
Treefort Music Fest is an annual tradition here in the Treasure Valley. It is an awesome 5-day festival that spans dozens of establishments throughout Boise Downtown giving you ample opportunity to hear from tons of local and visiting bands!
There are so many different bands that will be here for Treefort that you will easily be able to find a group that will play your favorite genre. Be sure to check out their website for more information about the specific bands that will be playing and what times they go on!
And that wraps up our list for this month’s great events in the Boise area. We hope you enjoy some of these activities!
