July Events around Boise

July

July is a time to celebrate and the Treasure Valley does not disappoint.  There are a vast amount of events and activities throughout the month to help you have fun and explore your patriotic side.  Following are just a few of the many exciting opportunities to leave your TV and grill behind and participate in some fun activities in our community.

Boise Chalk Art Festival

July 4th:  8 am to 4 pm at Ann Morrison Park, 1000 N. Americana Blvd., Free

Do you like to watch sidewalk chalk artists bring a picture to life?  Then come watch local artists work their magic creating a 4th of July masterpiece on the sidewalks of Ann Morrison Park. This fun activity is free for spectators but if your inner artist wishes to participate, there is a fee.  For ages 12-17 the fee is $10, ages 18+ it is $15, and if you have a team of two to four the cost is $20. Fireworks Celebrations

July 4th:  10:15 p.m. at Ann Morrison Park, 1000 N. Americana Blvd., Free

Celebrate the 4th with a BANG! at the fireworks show at Ann Morrison Park.  Beginning at 4 pm food and beer vendors will open their doors to provide you with their culinary delights. First Thursday

Thursday, Jul 05:  5:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Come to Downtown Boise and experience FIRST THURSDAY. This unique way to shop is held the first Thursday of each month until December 6th, 2018.  Downtown merchants throw open their doors to shoppers, dinners and passers-by to participate in special in-store events. These events range from wine tasting to art exhibits to charity events.  Let the downtown merchants show you a better way to shop.

Flavorful Fairy Tales: “The Gruffalo”

Thursday, July 12:  4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

This parent/child activity is a fun way to spend some quality time together.  Participants will read the book “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson and make their own Gruffalo Crumble. This story is of a clever mouse who is taking a walk through the woods.  Through smart thinking, he manages to avoid being eaten. After the reading, participants will make and enjoy their own homemade Gruffalo crumble. There will also be crafts and a lot of fun.  $15 per participant.

Singer, songwriter and actress, Sheryl Crow, will rock the Treasure Valley this July in a one-night performance at the Idaho Botanical Gardens.  This Grammy Award-winning artist has graced the stages of Michael Jackson, Sting and Rod Stewart since the mid-1980’s. Now she will be gracing the stage at the Botanical Gardens.

Learn tools to help you move toward better understanding and compassion toward yourself and others.

This aquatic circus is sure to please people of all ages.  Let these performers thrill you with their fantastic abilities, technological prowess and the elements of water all swirled together into an exhilarating production.  This everyone-friendly and pocketbook friendly show will feature pirates, fountains, jugglers, jet skies, the wheel of death and much, much more. It is rumored that there may also be a visit from a dinosaur.  This fantastic show is the brainchild of Manuel Rebecchi and Chanté DeMoustes. Come and join the fun.

Mama Mia!

The Idaho Shakespeare Festival is excited to present the play Mama Mia!  This musical is about a young woman’s search for her birth father.  The night before her wedding three men arrives claiming to be her father.  Come see how everything pans out in this comical storyline interwoven with the iconic songs of ABBA.
