For many people, February means only one thing: cold. However, here in the Boise area, there are plenty of great things you can do to enjoy yourself and get away from the bitter cold. Well, at least most of them will; it’s hard not to enjoy the great outdoors here in Idaho, even in the winter. So, here are 5 awesome events for February 2018 in the Treasure Valley.
Feb 9th to 11th, Expo Idaho: Times Vary
Golf is well loved sport by many people, and the people of Boise are no different. In fact, we love golf here enough that we are having the Boise Golf and Travel Show over the weekend of February 9th. Whether you are an avid golfer or just a casual practitioner, you will find something you love here at the show. General Admission costs $12 and VIP Night tickets cost $20. Check out the website for more info.
Feb 10th, Creative Corner Custom Framing
For all you craft lovers out there, this one is for you! Creative Corner Custom Framing is more than just a frame shop— it’s also a fun place to go to learn about crafts of every kind. On February 10th, the craft of choice is quilting and embellishments. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to piece ‘crazy quilt blocks and explore the creative world of embellishments,’ according to their website.
Wed., Feb. 14, 12-9 p.m.
Quoted from the Idaho State Historical Society:
Looking for something other than roses or chocolates this Valentine’s Day? The Old Idaho Penitentiary is offering a unique alternative to this hum-drum day devoted to love. Stroll through the site and snuggle up with your Valentine or find the true meaning of “ball and chain.” Visitors can read ‘Love’ Stories from the Penitentiary, and play games like Match-In’ Mates, Honey Bee Heist and Pin the Rose on the Gardener, enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, fireside chats with experts, and self-guided tours. Presentations are indoors and have a limited capacity. Last admission 8 p.m. $11 for 2
Feb 16th or 17th
Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP)
If you have ever looked at the fine craftsmanship of a woodworking project, or watched a video of a woodworker and thought, “I would love to do that!” then you’ll definitely want to sign up for the Intro to Woodworking class at JUMP. This class will go through the basics of woodworking and act as a springboard for you into the wonderful and fulfilling world of wood.
Feb 24th, JUMP: 10:15 AM
Another JUMP even you should definitely check out is the Build a Lending Library instructional event. It is a wonderful way to life the spirits of your community while having fun at the same time. Lending libraries are small, waterproof boxes that you put around your neighborhood that have books placed in them for anyone to read. Now, the rules for the lending library may differ depending on the neighborhood, but typically people can provide books they would like to share and borrow and read books put there by their neighbors as often as they like. It is a wonderful way to promote literacy, and community unity.
We hope you are as excited for this month as we are. If so, mark your calendars and buy you tickets now so you won’t miss out on all the fun!
