May Activities and Events

 

With the change in season, it is hard to not get excited about all the events and activities that are to come. May is a traditionally a great month for fun and exciting activities in the Treasure Valley and this year sounds like it will not disappoint. Check out these awesome looking events and be sure to mark your calendar before it’s too late!

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

May 3rd – 5th

7:30 PM

Morrison Center

If you are a fan of the theater, then you need to see ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ this month. Join the Treasure Valley and the Morrison Center in welcoming one of musical theater’s most beloved stories. It is a fun show that will have you singing along before the curtain closes. It is a show like no other. In fact, you could even call it, amazing.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

May 6th

8:00 PM

Knitting Factory (18 years of age and above only)

Cinco de Mayo may be a traditionally Mexican holiday, but it is widely celebrated here in the States as well, including Idaho. Among the many celebrations that you can enjoy on the 5th of May, there aren’t many that will compare to the Knitting Factory’s Salsa Celebration.

Starting at 8:00 PM the Knitting Factory will be transformed into a Cinco de Mayo paradise with food, music and fun. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the music provided by DJ Giovanni while sipping on your favorite beverage (bar drinks will only be sold when ID is presented).

Snooze at the Zoo

May 6th

6:30 PM

Zoo Boise

This wonderful activity is for the kid in all of us, even though it is mainly marketed to children. It is a great opportunity to see the animals of Zoo Boise without large crowds. The event allows you a chance to interact with the animals and even spend the night in the zoo itself.

The Snooze at the Zoo only happens four times a year, so if you want to participate, get your tickets now.

Idaho’s Largest Garage Sale

May 21st

7:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Yard and garage sale season is upon us so it time to start bargain hunting. Instead of taking the time to search for great deals however, why not just go to Idaho’s Largest Garage Sale down at the fairgrounds. This amazing event allows people and local businesses to come and sell their wares in a garage sale setting but without the hassle of doing it in their own yard.

Entry to the event is pretty reasonable, and the stuff that you find will definitely make it worth your time.

Celtic Woman: Destiny World Tour

May 24th

7:00 PM

Morrison Center

Celtic Woman is a show that needs no introduction and is one that we here in the Treasure Valley area are proud to have! This quartet of beautiful voices brings the sweet Celtic sounds of their homeland on tour and play in some of the most reputable cities in the world. They have been featured on PBS and other television syndicates for years and have released numerous albums.

If you have ever wanted to see these women live, then this is your opportunity. Check out the Morrison Center’s website to get your tickets today!

Things to do in April!

April Events

During the month of April the Treasure Valley will play host to many awesome events. So, strap in and get ready to have some fun!

ERA Pro Rodeo

April 1st and 2nd

Ford Idaho Center, Nampa

Rodeos are a core part of western history and culture and they continue to be events for communities to rally around. The ERA (Elite Rodeo Athletes) Pro Rodeo is a world class event that offers exciting action in a fun western atmosphere. It is a great way to enjoy the beauties of the old west without having to travel that far from home.

This traveling event is making its way through the west with stops in places like Redmond, Oregon; Salt Lake City, Utah; and, of course, Nampa, Idaho. While here they will hold several different competitions like Team Roping, Saddle Bronc, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and so forth. It is a two day event like none other with stakes, and payouts, that are as high as ever.

 

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

April 6th

Boise Main Library

12:30pm to 4 pm

Taxes can be a pain, and can put a bit of a damper on your plans for springtime. However, with this event at the Boise Public Library, you can get your precious time back. On Wednesday the 6th of April, at the Boise Main Library off of Capital Boulevard and River Street, you get help filing you 2015 taxes from volunteers from Boise State. These awesome volunteers are trained and taught on all the current laws and regulations so that you can put your mind at ease about your taxes. (They can only help with your taxes if you make less than $62,000)

The Sleeping Beauty (Ballet)

April 8th and 9th

Morrison Center, Boise

The Sleeping Beauty by Pyotr (Peter) Llyich Tchaikovsky is one of the Russian composer’s most famous works. Coming in closely behind the Swan Lake and the Nutcracker. It is the ballet version of Charles Perrault’s classic story we all know and love and you can see it over the weekend of the 8th at the Morrison Center.

Told via music and dance, this story is told in a way unlike any other by Ballet Idaho’s amazing and talented roster of performers. Tickets can be bought through Ticketmaster.com (follow the link listed on Ballet Idaho’s website) and are going fast so you better act now!

Idaho Motorcycle Show and Sale

April 15th through 17th

Expo Idaho

Do you love motorcycles? If so, the Idaho Motorcycle Show and Sale is where you will want to be between the 15th and 17th of April. This three day show is the place for bike enthusiasts from all over the Treasure Valley to gather. There will be representatives from many of the dealers in the valley with their newest and best bikes with special pricing for the days of the show only. You can peruse all the best bikes in the area to your hearts content and maybe even go home with one!

This show is the best place to look for bikes and gear, especially because of the dirt demo area for both bikes and ATVs at the show so you can try them out and see how you like them. There will also be motorcycle stunt shows by the Fallen Angel Stunters on all three days, gear giveaways, and a cash machine money grab courtesy of Idaho Central Credit Union.

2Cellos

April 20th

Morrison Center, Boise

If you have never heard the 2Cellos, then you really ought to get yourself a ticket for their show at the Morrison Center at the end of April. They are a sensational duo that combines their natural talent on the cello with historical classics and modern marvels. They have traveled around the globe doing live show in countries like Japan, Australia, the United States, and many more. They have also been seen on popular TV shows and talk shows as well.

2Cellos is made up of two Croatian cellists that have won the love and appreciation of the world through their amazing music. They have even earned the acclaim of amazing artists like Elton John. Follow them on their YouTube Channel to watch them in your own living room and see them live as they pass through the City of Trees April 20th.

These are just a few of the many events you can expect during the month of April, with many more to be announced.
