March Events around Boise

March Events

Now that Valentine’s Day and February have passed, it is time to turn our attention to springtime and all the fun activities we have to look forward to in the month of March. Spring is right around the corner, so hopefully the snow and ice are behind us so we can enjoy some amazing activities. Here are 5 of the things you can look forward to this month in the Treasure Valley.

A Streetcar Named Desire:  March 3 – 11th, various times

http://boiselittletheater.org/current-season/

This is an amazing play by Tennessee Williams that was successful on Broadway and on the road.  Featuring the character of Blanche du Boise, who shuns the reality of life in favor of romantic illusions.   This play was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1948 and continues to be popular in theaters today.  I’m especially excited to go because I have a friend in the play!

More about the Boise Little Theater from their website:   “ Boise Little Theater (BLT) is an all volunteer, non-profit organization with an unwavering dedication to amateur theatrical quality. For over 65 years we have produced plays in all genres: contemporary and classical, comedy, drama and musicals. BLT is one of the longest running community theaters in America”.

Jeff Dunham

Jeff Dunham’s mixture of puppetry and stand-up comedy is legendary, making him one of the most popular comedians of his time. Lucky for us, on the 11th of March, he is bringing his special brand of comedy and storytelling to Boise’s Taco Bell Arena to show off for the whole Treasure Valley.

It is sure to be a great show, so be sure to grab your tickets fast! Tickets are between $47.50 and $35.50. Doors open at 4:00 PM, the show starts at 5:00 PM.

Simply Cats “Catsino”

March 17th

Simply Cats is a great organization that specializes in feline adoption. They are a no-kill adoption center which means that they won’t put a cat down if no one adopts them. While helping out our furry feline friends is awesome, it doesn’t always pay the bills. So, to keep this place going they have to ask for donations and host fundraisers. Catsino is one of those fundraisers.

Catsino is a fun Las Vegas style gambling event, however, instead of a big casino getting a lot of money, money goes to supporting the cats that they try to save. To register for this event be sure to check out their website!

Treefort Music Festival

March 22nd to 26th

Treefort is a Music Festival like none other. This multi-day, multi-locational event is one of Boise’s most anticipated events. It brings together musicians, artists, and enthusiasts from all over to enjoy the sweet sound of local music. There are hundreds of events going on during the week of Treefort so you should definitely check out their website for a full list because Treefort has so many great local deals and events. Some of these include art shows, local food, and much more.

FIRST Robotics Competition Regional

March 30th to April 1st

The FIRST Robotics Completion Regional is a competition for high school aged robotics fans where they can show off their wildest creations. Builders can test their robots skills, get insights from other builders, and so much more at FIRST Robotics.

First Robotics Competitions are an attempt to inspire a new generation of people to pursue science, technology, engineering, and math. Check out their website for more information about locations, times, teams, and donations.

Boise is a wonderful place to be during the early springtime. Aside from the events that we listed above, there are more and more outdoor opportunities popping up with the warming weather. So, no matter what you like to do, no one is going to go away bored this month!

Thanks to this large amount of gems that can be found here, Idaho has become a gathering place for geologist, jewelers and gem enthusiasts from all over. The Gem and Mineral Show is a place that all gem admirers can come together to buy, sell, trade, and learn all things gems and minerals. There will even be demonstrations in things like silversmithing, faceting and so on.
